Work 'is having an impact' on IT operators' health
26/11/2009
More than eight out of ten IT operators believe that their job has had an impact on their health, according to a new survey.
Data from the IT Job Board showed that 81 per cent are worried about their health, with 93 adding that the impact of their job has been a negative one.
Furthermore, 57 per cent said that their negative feelings have increased over the last year since the recession began.
Some workers said they now spend less time exercising while others believe that their social life and eating habits have been affected by their job.
Jamie Bowler, head of marketing at the IT Job Board, said that the fast-paced and stressful environment of IT was having an impact on people's lives.
"Many believe this has increased significantly since the start of the recession and this is reflected in the increase in sick days over the last year," he added.
Last week, research by Fat Free Fitness showed that less than one in five IT operators said that they met advised targets for doing a minimum of 30 minutes of exercise each day.
